It sifts from leaden sieves

It sifts from Leaden Sieves -
It powders all the Wood.
It fills with Alabaster Wool
The Wrinkles of the Road -

It makes an even Face
Of Mountain, and of Plain -
Unbroken Forehead from the East
Unto the East again -

It reaches to the Fence -
It wraps it Rail by Rail
Till it is lost in Fleeces -
It deals Celestial Vail

To Stump, and Stack - and Stem -
A Summer’s empty Room -
Acres of Joints, where Harvests were,
Recordless, but for them -

It Ruffles Wrists of Posts
As Ankles of a Queen -
Then stills it’s Artisans - like Ghosts -
Denying they have been -

Piano Sonata - Cold Winter
The contemporary piano virtuosity

Canadian pianist Élise Richard interprets the Piano Sonata Cold Winter that PandolfoPaolo wrote and dedicated to her.
An homage to the musician who masterfully interprets the opera, which features complicated technical virtuosity and hidden beauties, wonderfully revealed by the performer.

Piano Sonata - Cold Winter

Élise Richard recorded Cold Winter at San Giacomo - Spazio d’Arte studio in the summer of 2022 during her stay in Italy while she was overseeing a series of piano Masterclasses.

Cold Winter depicts the composer’s vision of a northern winter, where the snow together with the cold wind, slowly models the landscape, with inexorable power, like an artist patiently creating a sculpture. From the beginning of the Sonata the audience is immediately directed to dramatic changes in the musical scenarios, which constantly evolve and recur throughout the whole of the Sonata, just as Pandolfo Paolo intended, to illustrate both the silent calm and the screaming power of winter itself.

A special section worth mentioning is The Part III - Mazurka  within the Sonata. A true masterpiece of music which captures the listeners and transports them along a magical journey, rich with emotion.
